Halloween originated from the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, celebrated around November 1st to mark the end of summer and harvest and the beginning of the new year. The holiday’s name, Halloween, is a contraction of All Hallows’ Eve, the evening before All Saints’ Day (November 1st) and All Souls’ Day.
